Monday Evening: Carioca da Gema

From 10,00 pm to 1.00 am. TE 22 21 00 43. One of the hottest night-life spots in the city. This place offers some of the finest Bossa Nova & Samba in the City. It is located in Lapa (Avenida Mem de Sá); this is the best night at this carioca´s hot spot!

Monday Night: Bar Semente

The best choro and samba club of Rio de Janeiro. Live music, professional musicians and bohemian ambient.

This is a very nice pub with a DJ playing Rock all night and serving draft beer. Sit inside or just hang out outside next to the door.

Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday Night before getting to Lapa: Rio Scenarium

Close to Lapa, full of antiques and strange objects from the whole century. You can have a good local dinner, or just dance all night while the newest bands of Rio play live; this place is ideal to start your Friday.

Wednesday Night: Clube Guanabara

Samba party with lots of "locals" dancing and singing while the musicians are playing rustic instruments and drinking beers. They don't make money from that, they play for beers and for fun. It is a really nice place to sit in the pier and view the Sugar Loaf and the Guanabara Bay during the night.
Starts at 22.00 hs. Clube Guanabara is just on the other side of the Vivo Building in Botafogo Beach.

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Nights: Casa Matriz

A party house in our neighborhood, Botafogo. A house with two floors, where you can find bars, dance areas, rooms with old school computer games and chill out room for quiet romantic conversation!
Easy to get to by Walking, or bus: from Rua São Clemente. Take Rua Real Grandeza and Rua Henrique Novaes on the left.

Thursday Night: Bar Beco do Rato

Classic of carioca´s Thursday night, live music interpreted for old musicians of Rio de Janeiro. Cool ambient, free entrance, cheep beer and drinks.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday Nights: Clube Democráticos

Samba in a big old house with a great band "Anjos da Lua" playing live classics of samba from the beginning of the last century. Great musicians, really nice for people who like dancing with a partner.

Friday Night: Lapa Night

There is a huge street party in Lapa! Free. Here you can enjoy a variety of music including Samba, Pagode, Reggae, Hip Hop, and Funk & Rock.
Get there by Taxi or by Bus to Maracanã: 433/464. Get off at the Arcs of Lapa. (Arcos da Lapa)

Friday/Saturday night: Circo Voador

One of the greatest places to see some Brazilian bands and singers performing alive. There is always a different attraction. Ask the staff about who is playing.

Saturday Night or Sunday during the day: Feira do Nordeste São Cristovão

Also known as Feira dos Paraibas. The Largest Northeast Market in Rio, with the music from the Brazilian Northeast: Forró! The barracas (food stalls) are set-up for this weekly event with. This is not a tourist attraction, so you will have the opportunity to meet the real Brazilian here. Dancing and drinking are combined with Brazilian food.
The vibrant scene starts around 8pm on Friday and continues nonstop through Sunday evening. TE: 38 60 99 76

Sunday Evening: Casa Rosa

A big house in Laranjeiras that used to be a place for men looking for prostitutes from the 1920's until the 40's. It reopened in the 90's and the house is still Pink (Rosa), but now the DJ's play the best of Brazilian Music and a band Arcos do Choro play Chorinho (instrumental samba). The house has 2 bars, a place to chill, pool tables, cheap beers, and good-looking people.
Every Sunday Casa Rosa is famous for its big feijoadas (Brazilian typical dish) with music alive.

Saturday Night: Escola De Samba - Samba Schools

From August and September most big samba schools open their rehearsals to the public. In these large parties, where samba is all you will listen, you can enjoy the experience to see the preparation for Carnaval, its spirit and the ilusion people have for the largest event in the world.
Pick up at the hostel at 22.30 + Entrance + Guide + Transfer back leaving the samba school at 04.00 hs.

Sunday Night: Favela Funk Party

Go to one of the bests parties in Rio. Unfortunately the party is near a lot of Favelas in the West Area of Rio, so if you want to have this experience, you need to go with a guide (Luiz from Favela Tour) and others foreigners, in a mini van, because the party is almost 1 hour away.
Pick up at the hostel at 22.30 + Entrance for the VIP Section + Guide + Transfer back leaving the favela funky party at 04.00 hs. (Back at El Misti hostel & pousada rio de janeiro at 05.00 hs. approximately)
